About Kodality
At Kodality, we build mission-critical software - solutions that power vital services and make a real difference in people’s everyday lives. Our focus is on essential services, where reliability, precision, and deep domain knowledge truly matter. We care about what we do and how our work impacts the world around us, and our teams take pride in clean code, thoughtful design, and a shared commitment to quality.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Software Developer who cares about getting the foundations right - the data models, the services, and the structural choices that keep a system reliable as it grows. You’ll help shape how mission-critical systems are designed and built, with room to work across the stack. From your first day, you’ll contribute to the systems behind Estonia’s vital services, writing code that has to work without compromises.
You’ll thrive here if you:
- Have 2+ years of experience as a software developer working with Java.
- Are comfortable designing and working with relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, or similar).
- Write clean, tested, maintainable code - and care about why, not just whether, it works.
- Hold a degree in IT or a natural sciences field, or have the hands-on experience to match.
- Are comfortable working in both Estonian and English (at least B2 level).
Nice to have experience:
- Spring, REST and SOAP web services and microservice-based architectures.
- CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins, or similar) and monitoring tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Zabbix).
- Database migration tools such as Liquibase or Flyway.
- Full-stack instincts - if you also enjoy frontend or devops, you’ll have room to work across the stack here.
What We Offer
- Hands-on experience from day one. You’ll be part of a real project that matters.
- The chance to work and learn from top-tier professionals in the field of software development.
- A meaningful opportunity to contribute to systems that impact Estonian vital services and people’s lives directly.
- A culture built on commitment to quality and delivering meaningful value.

You’ll work closely with our development teams and stakeholders to shape how Estonia’s vital systems evolve, balancing diverse challenges with a steady hand and sound judgement.

You’ll thrive here if you:
- Have 3+ years of experience leading software development projects.
- Have delivered at least one substantial IT development project, from planning through to release.
- Ask “why” before “how” - and know how to turn the answer into a plan a team can actually execute.

- Are comfortable working in both Estonian and English (at least B2 level).
What We Offer
- A seat at the table from day one - your input will directly shape the solutions we build.
- The chance to work on systems that genuinely matter, used by professionals and citizens across Estonia.
- A team that values thoughtful decisions over fast ones, and quality over shortcuts.
