First, Do No Harm: Reflections from ProductTank Tallinn

stage and chairs

Every contribution to healthcare matters. Each step, each effort, and every visionary initiative in this demanding and rewarding field represents hope - a promise that life can be better, healthier, and longer for everyone we care about.

At Kodality, we deeply believe that in healthcare, as in life, collaboration beats competition - and when we share knowledge, experience, and vision, we all succeed together.

Guided by this spirit, we were honored to host the first-ever ProductTank Tallinn event entirely focused on HealthTech. Our Tallinn office became a vibrant hub, connecting local attendees and remote participants in a shared pursuit of knowledge and progress.

Think Twice Before Entering the Healthcare Market

The event kicked off with Maksim Zukov and Maksim Boiko from Kodality, whose presentation "Think Twice Before Entering the Healthcare Market" offered an honest reflection on the complexities inherent in healthcare innovation. Echoing medicine's foundational concept of "First, do no harm," they emphasized the serious risks of venturing into healthcare without thorough preparation. The speakers outlined key hurdles - from navigating complex reimbursement systems and stringent regulations to managing numerous healthcare standards. The central message was clear: assumptions in healthcare are not acceptable. Success, they noted, relies on deep industry understanding, strategic vision, robust initial architecture, and adaptability.

User-Centric Product Development in a MedTech Startup

Complementing this perspective was Maria Vous, CPO at Better Medicine, who captivated the audience with her presentation "User-Centric Product Development in a MedTech Startup." Maria vividly illustrated the profound difference it makes when product development involves genuine, empathetic engagement with healthcare practitioners. Recounting her experience at Tartu University Hospital, observing radiologists firsthand, she revealed how vital it is to validate assumptions early, deeply understand customer needs, align around a common product vision, and establish clear acceptance criteria upfront. Maria’s talk beautifully demonstrated the importance of learning continuously and designing with - not just for - those on the frontline of healthcare.

Yet beyond the enriching presentations and enlightening discussions, what truly resonated was the atmosphere - the warmth of shared expertise and a sense of shared purpose. Each thoughtful question from the audience, each nod of understanding, reaffirmed the profound connection we all have with healthcare: the unifying goal to protect the moments that matter - with the people who matter the most.

Our heartfelt thanks go to ProductTank for making this important gathering possible, to Maria Vous for her generous sharing of insights, and to every attendee who joined us bringing their curiosity, insights, and genuine passion for healthcare innovation.

At Kodality, we will continue fostering these meaningful conversations, convinced that every shared insight brings us closer to transforming healthcare - for today, tomorrow, and always.

Together, let’s continue learning, innovating, and, above all, caring deeply.
